4th Annual Junior GOAF'er Trout Derby

Get Out And Fish is excited to welcome families back to Collins Lake for the 4th Annual Junior GOAF’er Trout Derby — a day dedicated to youth anglers, outdoor adventure, and creating memories that last a lifetime.

This event is open to kids 15 years old and under, and continues to grow every year with over 150 junior anglers registered last year. Whether fishing from a boat or the bank, this derby is designed to be fun, fair, and family-friendly for anglers of all experience levels.

🎣 How the Derby Works

Junior anglers will compete in one of two divisions: Boat Division or Bank Division. Each division will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.

Winners will be determined by the weight of the angler’s single heaviest fish. Only one fish may be brought to the weigh-in, so choose wisely! In the event of a tie, the longest fish will be used as the tie-breaker.

All fishing during the event must comply with California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) laws and regulations, including licensing, limits, and approved methods of take.

⏰ Event Day Schedule

Check-in begins promptly at 6:00 AM in front of the Collins Lake store. Participants must pay their day-use fee prior to checking in.

The official weigh-in will take place at Day Use Site #1, beginning at 1:00 PM and closing at 2:30 PM. No fish will be accepted after the weigh-in closes.

The awards ceremony will begin at 2:30 PM, where division winners will be announced and prizes awarded.

🎁 Raffle Prizes

After the awards ceremony, additional raffle prizes will be given out to participating junior anglers. These prizes are a fun way to wrap up the day and ensure that more kids go home with something special, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors.

🍖 BBQ & Family Fun

During weigh-in, all participants and their families are invited to enjoy a FREE BBQ dinner, proudly provided by Slabb’s BBQ. It’s the perfect way to relax, celebrate, and share stories from the day on the water.

💲 Registration & Giveaway

Registration is $10 per participant and is open to all kids 15 and under.

Those who register before March 10th will be entered into a special giveaway for a FREE guided fishing trip for two, generously donated by one of our event sponsors. Winners will be announced by March 15th

This event is Rain or Shine and is focused on fun, sportsmanship, and encouraging youth participation in the outdoors. Parents, guardians, and families are encouraged to cheer on the kids and enjoy the day together.
